Sweet Success for Viva Hair Salon

By 11th December 2017 No Comments

Sweet treats and free hair cuts have helped to raise nearly £400 for premature babies at an event organised by Viva Hair Salon in Fore Street Exeter. Owner Emma Jane Lineham held a BAKE FOR BLISS DAY as part of an ongoing fundraising effort leading up to a London Marathon run. This fantastic fundraising day involved plenty of cakes, treats, biscuits, drinks stand soft play for children as well as a raffle to help raise some extra money for Bliss, a charity for babies who are born prematurely or sick.

Bliss’ vision is that every baby born premature or sick in the UK has the best chance of survival and quality of life. Bliss’ ambition is to reach every single baby needing neonatal care in the UK and their families by the end of 2019. They want every baby to benefit from their work, no matter how long they live or how long they spend on a neonatal unit. While visitors tucked into the sweet treats during the day Viva Hair stylists gave free cuts and blow dries to nurses and mums close to the cause.

Kristen Castle the Salon Director is running her first London Marathon in support of Bliss and has personal experience of the heartache of a premature baby after Ewan, Kristen’s son, was born critically ill a month early and was not signed off by Paediatric care until 19 months later. Kristen said: “The charity is close to my heart and our family knows how lucky we are that Ewan is with us after such a very rough start. He was born by emergency caesarean a month early due to having symptoms of reduced foetal movements. Bliss is a great charity supporting premature and sick babies and I’d appreciate any donations possible whether big or small. I promise to run it with all my heart.”

Emma Jane Knight Lineham said “Viva Hair are proud to be supporting Kristen in her first London Marathon and we’ll be cheering her on. Through Kristen’s experiences, the team at the salon and our customers know what a difference the Bliss charity makes to so many people going through traumatic times and donations would be greatly appreciated by us all.” I will be adding the extra pennies to BLISS to take her to £2000.

Emma Jane Knight Lineham would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for making this a fabulous day for Kristen’s BLISS fundraiser at Viva, to everybody who came and supported by buying and eating the delicious cakes. Also for the assistance of Tiny Tots Soft Play Hire with the setting up of the children’s soft play area and of course the amazing staff at Viva Hair who made it all possible. The event raised £400 for BLISS, and more can be raised by sponsoring Kristen through her Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Kristen-Castle or contacting Viva Hair on 01392 411119.
