DM PR & Marketing had an absolute ball at the Exeter Living Awards on Thursday 7th March. We thoroughly enjoyed the glitz and glamour of Exeter Living’s event, held in the Great Hall at Exeter University.
The Exeter Living Awards are a brilliant initiative, growing year on year. These awards are a chance for our thriving Exeter business community to come together and be recognised for the exemplary, innovative work that they do. Exeter is well known to be a supportive business community, and the evening was a great example of how much we are all rooting for each other.
With 153 finalists in 22 categories, there was hot competition for these prestigious awards.
DM PR & Marketing have been sponsoring the Event category of the Exeter Living Awards for three years now and were delighted to present this year’s award to winners Exeter Pride. Trustees and volunteers have worked exceptionally hard to make Exeter Pride one of the biggest free Pride events in the country.
The celebration has become a key event in Exeter’s calendar since its beginning in 2009. Pride is not only a celebration of increased equality and diversity over the years, but also a route to more awareness in the community regarding the elimination of discrimination in all its forms.
Adam Rank, chair of Exeter Pride committee, said, “It is about us having pride in our contributions to a vibrant and diverse city, and all of Devon and the city having pride in us.”
The 2019 Pride event is planned for Saturday 11th May and will include a colourful rainbow flag march through Exeter, with thousands of people expected to join the celebration. The Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Rob Hannaford, will lead the parade and will officially open the main stage at the end of the march.
Exeter Pride are calling for volunteers to help carry the enormous 50-metre rainbow flag this year. There is also a crowdfunder underway to help raise enough sponsorship to keep the event free to attend.
Our Lead Consultant, Dana Mulligan, presented the award on the night. Dana commented, “I’m thrilled to have been able to present the Event award to Exeter Pride. They have worked tirelessly and kept a truly inclusive ethos in everything that they do. They have been rewarded for this by pulling off a really wonderful event, which fully deserves this recognition from the Exeter Living Awards.”
